Dorothy Gail's Story
Life
After graduating from Murphy, I attended Emory University, where I got my B.A. Degree in English. I received a MEd Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from GA State University. I was employed by Clayton County Schools for thirty years, retiring in 1992, where I was first an English Teacher, then a Remedial Reading Teacher & finally a Guidance Counselor (from 1970-1992). My husband, Paul, & I met while I was at Emory & he was at GA Tech. He was born and raised in Savannah, GA. We met at church & have been married since 1962 - no children. We live on an 86-acre farm outside McDonough GA & have a second home in Savannah. We raise hay on our farm, but mostly it is just a wildlife sanctuary. There are deer, wild turkeys, and many other forms of life that share our land with us. We are members of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in McDonough, where Paul is an usher and I sing soprano in the choir. nited Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the War of 1812, the Jamestowne Society, the Magna Charta Dames, The Colonial & Antebellum Bench & Bar, the Flagon & Trencher, the Plantagenet Society, Americans of Royal Descent, the Colonial Order of the Crown (Descendants of Charlemagne), the Descendants of the Knights of the Garter, the Order of Washington, the Sons & Daughters of the Pilgrims, The Daughters of Indian Wars, The Daughters of Colonial Wars, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, the Daughters of American Colonists, the Dames of the Court of Honor, & Descendants of Loyalists and Patriots. I have also researched Paul's family & he has joined 12 organizations. I am a member of the Genealogical Society of Henry & Clayton Counties, Inc., where I serve on the Board and edit the quarterly journal. I am also a member of the GA Retired Teachers' Association. Other than genealogy, my hobbies are reading, working puzzles (cryptograms, sudoku & crossword), and watching television.
